Shawdesh Desk: The public administration ministry has said the government service rule 2018 will be effective from October 1.
A gazette notification signed by public administration secretary Foyez Ahmed revealed this information on Thursday.
According to the government service rule, it requires prior permission from the government or recruitment authority to arrest a government employee in a criminal case. The President may exempt anyone convicted and dismissed employee from service in the court, and the President’s order will allow that employee to regain their job.
The gazette of government service rule was issued on November 14, 2018. Earlier on August 20, 2018, it was approved in the cabinet meeting and was enacted in the parliament on October 24.
If this law goes into effect, the Retirement Act of 1974, the Service (Reorganisation and Terms) Rule of 1975, the Government Employees (Special Provisions) Ordinance of 1989, Government Employees, the Public Works Discipline (Regular Attendance) Ordinance of 1982, Public Servants (dismissal on conviction) Ordinance 1985 and The surplus government employee inclusion law of 2016 will be repealed.
